Job Summary:

Our clients are complex and highly transactional. The Associate supports the Principal, Portfolio Strategy, who guides the team’s investment strategy, sets asset allocation targets for our equity and fixed income models, and oversees day-to-day trading for roughly 70 families.

The role has two core demands. The first is trading and liquidity management: we fund about 2,000 capital calls a year, and every obligation must be raised in a way that keeps the portfolio aligned with targets. The second is portfolio construction: you build the investment proposals we present to prospects and to existing clients in quarterly reviews.  Creative, proactive, and solutions-oriented thinking is critical to success.

You will also work with Relationship Managers to understand each family’s cash needs, risk tolerance, and investment appetite, and help evaluate private fund offerings.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Build investment proposals:
    • Produce PowerPoint proposals for prospects and for quarterly client reviews, covering performance, positioning, and recommended changes. We use AI tools to speed up production, and you are accountable for every number and statement in the final deck.
  • Support client meetings:
    • Prepare talking points and backup for the Principal and Advisors, and join selected client meetings when asked.
  • Trade and rebalance:
    • Execute rebalancing to model targets on Schwab and Fidelity, with tax-aware lot selection and wash-sale awareness.
  • Cash Management:
    • Forecast liquidity for calls, distributions, taxes, and spending.  Ensure cash is available for near term needs, while limiting excess cash.
  • Partner with Relationship Managers:
    • Translate each family’s risk tolerance and preferences into implementable portfolio constraints.
  • Support the Principal:
    • Prepare trades for review (about 99% are reviewed) and support the Principal’s investment work.
  • Investment due diligence:
    • Support diligence on private funds (PE, real estate, private credit, hedge funds) and recommend commitment sizing for illiquid investments.
  • Handle complex structures:
    • Work across trusts, LLCs, and multi-EIN family entities.
  • Control risk:
    • Monitor drift, reconcile positions, document decisions, and escalate exceptions early.
  • System Experience:
    • FactSet, Proprietary Portfolio Rebalancer, Orion/Addepar, Schwab, Fidelity, Excel, PowerPoint, Word

Qualifications:

  • Required:
    • 5 years in private wealth, family office, or institutional portfolio management, with preferred trading experience
    • Genuine interest in investing and markets
    • Working knowledge of rebalancing, tax-aware trading, and cash management
    • Strong Excel skills
    • Attention to detail, comfort with volume, ownership, clear communication
    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with Addepar reporting system
    • Understanding of alternative asset classes and risk factors
    • Progress toward CFA Charter strongly preferred

Salary: $85,000 – $100,000, based on experience
